µPAD integrates a Microchip programmer/debugger equivalent to Atmel ICE a $100+ value at a fraction of the cost.

The Out of the Box µPAD (Micro-PAD), Micro Processor for Academic Development was designed for education. The Xmega microcontroller is an ideal balance of simplicity and capability. With µPAD, professors cover more at a lower learning curve.

µPAD was designed to be engaging. Students will be able to learn the basics of i/o with LEDs and switches, to visualize movement with accelerometers and gyroscopes, control the speed of a motor, play music with a speaker, and more.

µPAD was created to educate. Students will be exposed to how a microprocessor works by using the external bus interface to attach peripherals and memory outside the limits of the original silicon. Backpack boards are designed to engagingly teach peripherals found commonly on microcontrollers throughout the industry such as Timers, USART, SPI, i2C, ADC, and DAC. Additionally, students will learn the benefits of direct memory address (DMA) by offloading tasks from the CPU.

the µPAD laboratory kit comes in two configurations soldered and unsoldered. The unsoldered version allows institutions to save and incorporate a soldering module into their courses. In this configuration students will be exposed to the basics of soldering. Students will only have to solder through hole components like headers to the various boards. All surface mount components are pre-assembled.
